Jabber Chatter (“Company,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) respects your privacy and is committed to protecting it. This Privacy Policy explains how information is handled when you use the Jabber Chatter iOS application and its associated services (collectively, the “App”).

1. Information We Collect

Account Information

Jabber Chatter requires users to create an account with a unique account name.
Account names are not required to contain personally identifying information such as real names, email addresses, or phone numbers.

Messages and Communications

Chat messages are stored locally on your device.
When a recipient is offline, messages are temporarily stored on our server solely to enable delivery.
Offline messages are deleted from the server immediately after delivery or automatically removed after a short retention period if undelivered.

Technical Data

The Jabber Chatter app and server use cookies and session data to:
- Maintain user sessions
- Enable authentication
- Ensure reliable message delivery
Cookies and session data do not contain chat message content.

2. How We Use Information

We use the information described above solely to:

Provide and operate the messaging service
Authenticate users and manage sessions
Deliver messages reliably, including temporary storage for offline recipients
Maintain the security and stability of the Service

We do not use your data for advertising, tracking across apps or websites, or profiling.

3. Data Storage and Retention

Local Storage: Messages are stored on your device and remain under your control.
Server Storage: Offline messages are stored on our servers only as long as necessary to deliver them.
- Once delivered, messages are permanently deleted from the server.
- Undelivered messages are automatically removed after a short retention period.

We do not sell, rent, or share user data with third parties.

We may disclose limited information only if required to do so by law or in response to a valid legal request, and only to the extent required.

5. Security

We take reasonable measures to protect information processed by the Service, including secure session handling and limited server-side message retention. However, no system can be guaranteed to be 100% secure.

6. Children’s Privacy

Jabber Chatter is not directed at children under the age of 13. We do not knowingly collect personally identifiable information from children.

7. Your Choices

You may delete chat messages at any time from your device.
You may stop using the Service at any time; server-side data is limited to temporary session and undelivered message handling.

8. Changes to This Privacy Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Any changes will be reflected by updating the effective date above. Continued use of the Service constitutes acceptance of the updated policy.
